“AERO was founded in 1989 and this will be our 9th consecutive conference after hosting the International Democratic Education Conference in 2003. AERO networks all forms of learner-centered educational alternatives. The AERO conference is unlike any other conference you are likely to attend in the USA. Many attendees have described the conference as life-changing.”
As an attendee and presenter (presented about Colorado’s Jeffco Open School) last year, I would agree that this conference is life-changing. I know, so cliché. Really though, I had an incredible experience hearing talks, participating in workshops, meeting new people, and broadening my awareness. Since it is in Portland again this year, I’ll be making the drive down from Olympia this summer, August 1-5, and am excited to be a volunteer this time.
Anyone that is able to go, should. Anyone that has a passion for education, is an educator, a student, a parent, etc or simply is interested in learning more about or participating in this education revolution, should go. The conference program is out, will be regularly updated, and it looks like there will be so many fantastic workshops and talks.
